Support for Tree Brotherhood at Istanbul Marathon
World Medicine employees ran in the 42nd Istanbul Marathon in order to fulfill their responsibility toward nature and to support TEMA’s “Tree Brotherhood” project for a more conscious generation and a greener future.
Tree Brotherhood is a nature education and afforestation project designed for children. For the past five years, the TEMA Foundation has organized charity runs in marathons to raise funds for the “Tree Brotherhood Project,” helping more children meet the soil and get to know trees. As part of the project, memorial forests have been created on behalf of children, and over the past five years, thousands of saplings have been brought together with the soil in the Tree Brotherhood Memorial Forests located in Balıkesir, Çanakkale, and Edirne.
The most distinctive feature of the Istanbul Marathon, held every November, has been that it is the only event where participants can run from one continent to another. This year, however, due to pandemic measures, the Istanbul Marathon was held virtually on November 7-8.
Approximately TRY 100,000 was raised from 1,070 donors through the corporate teams running for the TEMA Foundation.
With World Medicine participating on a corporate basis, meaningful steps were taken for children and nature through this event.
